Baby room - stage 1

Daddy hard at work building the crib.

Seethe crib and the valance - it all came together nicely.

The dresser - which will be joined by a changing table soon.

We are half way there!! We have the crib, dresser and valance set up in the room. We also have a table and book shelf that was already in there. All we need is the changing table ( which should be en route) and the recliner chair and of course all the little baby room things we registered for ( hint, hint - hehe).

John worked very hard all weekend moving things out for the carpet cleaning ( we did the whole upstairs and stairs - quite a project) and then back in and then buiding everything ( including a new dresser for him in our room!). Sammie and I helped where we could - mostly with the little stuff and directing ;) We are all exhausted - but very happy with the way its turning out. BTW - we changed the colors of the blog to reflect our color scheme of the room, that way those of you who are far and wont get to see the room will still feel how cozy it is :)

Little Sol has a rest

Allie kicks back on the couch after a long day setting up the nursery.
Also, daddy has figured out how to blog from the phone, which means there will live blogging from the delivery room on the big day.

7 months and baby classes!!

Well this has been an exciting week - we are officially in the third trimester and all the symptoms that come with this phase - swollen ankles being the worst of them! I always had such cute, boney ankles...now I have chankles :(. Oh well, Sol's worth it. We also kicked off the week with a doc visit and we are on target weight wise, size wise and everything else checked out. We are now at the every two-week doc visit phase.

We also had our first baby class and yes, we saw "THE VIDEO". I have since changed my mind about the whole thing and am opting for a magical delivery that does not include any labor pains, pushing, tearing or gunk. That is my fantasy and I'm sticking to it!! John did not faint, throw up or make any inappropriate comments. There was some giggling, but that was from alot of the class, not just us. Though when the baby was crowning and the narrator said, "At this point, the mother may expereince some burning or tearing pain "Everyone started to laugh - like, "Oh really, ya think!?!!".

Seriously, it was very informative, overwhelming and yet, almost comforting to be there with other couples going through the same thing, having the same questions and going through the same emotions. We did some breathing exercises though next week will be the real 'on the floor-lamaze' experience, the week after is the hospital tour and the week after we learn about epidurals and c-sections - yippie!! All in all, it is an unfathomable experience and the more we learn about it the more we are in awe - and the more freaked out - but we know we'll get through it like the billions of people before us and we'll have a beautiful little boy to show for it.

On a lighter note - I had a great mother's day gift from Solly! Thats right, I had just hung up the phone from talking to mom and was just sitting and zoning out and all of a sudden my whole tummy just moved on its own!! I of course shouted OMG and John then looked and lo-and-behold, more bumps and rolls -- we could SEE him move!! It was sooo freaking cool and THE best mom's day gift I could have gotten! Since then its been real fun to watch the belly move -- v. wierd indeed - but fun!

We hope to have the baby room put together in the next week or so and will of course post pic for that. Meanwhile, here's some photos Dad found of me when I was first born. John wanted to see if the 3D of Sol looked at all like me when I debuted - eh -I think there is a slight resemblemce. What do you think??

Allie a few hours old. Note: they used those things to pull me out so my head is a bit smushed.

Baby Sol - in 3D!!

"Here I am - arent I a cutie??!!"

"Look, I have Mommy's nose!"

"I'm doin the karate chop face block!"

"Yep, I'm still a boy!"

"Peek-a-boo! You cant see me!"

"Here's a little smile for ya! Check out my double-stuffed oreo cheeks!"

"Peace out dude!"

"Oy gavult, are you still there taking pictures of me!"

This was THE SINGLE MOST AMAZING THING John and I have ever encountered! The whole experience was sooo dang cool! And we have it all on CD and VHS! Just seeing him move and feeling it and knowing what I was feeling was out of this world! He definately didn't want his pic taken - he had his hands up over his face most of the time - we had to do a lot of poking and turning over to get him to move them away - but once he did, we had a cutie on our hands! The tech even said so, she said she doesnt tell parents they are cute unless they are, so there ya go folks!

He def has my nose and when he moves and smiles he has John's lips and chin. Doesnt look like he has much hair yet, sorry Auntie Chel, still no way to tell if its red or not :). He did toss and turn his head a lot and again, I could feel that so now I know what I am feeling. It was just so neat to see his facial expressions. The tech said "he has a little personality for sure." I said, "Yeh, a stubborn one! Wonder where he gets that from?!".

Now to the technical stuff - she said his heartbeat was strong and he was actually having diaphram movement, otherwise known as "breathing", in there which not all babies have or show and she said from their standpoint that means he is v.v. happy/content and healthy. She said that was an excellent sign! Good boy!!

We have about 50 pictures and 40 min of tape on this whole experience - so if anyone is interested, we are sure proud and willing to show you. Meanwhile, enjoy and know that it is going to feel like a LOOOOONG three months til we get to meet our little man, but he's cookin in there just fine and so far, he's gonna come out a cutie-pie!

Dr. Grandma and family at the ceremony!

Aunt - wait - God Mother Chelsea!

Chelsea and Mom show off their artwork

Mom's friend decorates a burp cloth just for John - Go Gators!!

Grandpa treats Sol to a special gift...go Yankees!!

Ahhh - the perfect blanket to bring Sol home in!

Aunti Chel Chel, Sol and I traveled back to S. Fla this weekend to celebrate Mom's graduation with her PhD! It was an amazing, inspiring experience to watch your mom cross the stage and get hooded and even hugged by the university President. She deserved every minute of glory and celebration!!

Mom's friend Maralyn also threw me my first baby shower with all of mom's friends - it was a hoot! She had a really fun activity where each guest decorated a bib and burp cloth - I used it as the opportunity to ask Aunt Chel to be Sol's Godmother - she said yes, of course!!

All in all a wonderful, tiring, and well-fed weekend!!
