We also had our first baby class and yes, we saw "THE VIDEO". I have since changed my mind about the whole thing and am opting for a magical delivery that does not include any labor pains, pushing, tearing or gunk. That is my fantasy and I'm sticking to it!! John did not faint, throw up or make any inappropriate comments. There was some giggling, but that was from alot of the class, not just us. Though when the baby was crowning and the narrator said, "At this point, the mother may expereince some burning or tearing pain "Everyone started to laugh - like, "Oh really, ya think!?!!".
Seriously, it was very informative, overwhelming and yet, almost comforting to be there with other couples going through the same thing, having the same questions and going through the same emotions. We did some breathing exercises though next week will be the real 'on the floor-lamaze' experience, the week after is the hospital tour and the week after we learn about epidurals and c-sections - yippie!! All in all, it is an unfathomable experience and the more we learn about it the more we are in awe - and the more freaked out - but we know we'll get through it like the billions of people before us and we'll have a beautiful little boy to show for it.
On a lighter note - I had a great mother's day gift from Solly! Thats right, I had just hung up the phone from talking to mom and was just sitting and zoning out and all of a sudden my whole tummy just moved on its own!! I of course shouted OMG and John then looked and lo-and-behold, more bumps and rolls -- we could SEE him move!! It was sooo freaking cool and THE best mom's day gift I could have gotten! Since then its been real fun to watch the belly move -- v. wierd indeed - but fun!
We hope to have the baby room put together in the next week or so and will of course post pic for that. Meanwhile, here's some photos Dad found of me when I was first born. John wanted to see if the 3D of Sol looked at all like me when I debuted - eh -I think there is a slight resemblemce. What do you think??

Allie a few hours old. Note: they used those things to pull me out so my head is a bit smushed.

This from the sandwich generation - the son of Sol and the grandfather of Sol:
The photos I sent and that Allie posted are a bit on the small side, mostly because I had to scan them into the computer from very old snapshots and the resolution worked better if I kept them small.
However, if you click on each photo on the blog, you can make it a good deal larger.
Also, given the apparently overwhelming yuckiness of the birth process - and that I can stand the sight of just about anything other than the blood of my wife or child - I plan to spend the entire final stage of labor at Brueggers. Just gimme a call when it's over.
